A cold like never before seen in October is hitting Utah on Tuesday and Wednesday as a record-breaking Arctic cold front brings freezing air straight from Canada.
Parts of the state had highs only in the 20s, which FOX 13 Chief Meteorologist Kristen Van Dyke said has never happened before on an October day.
On Wednesday, temperatures in Salt Lake City are expected to break all-time records. The coldest recorded October temperature in the city was in 1971 with 16-degree low and 35-degree high. Wednesday is expected to see a low of 11 degrees and a high of 31.
Strong winds will make temperatures feel even colder. In the Wasatch Front, the feels like temperatures are expected to be at or below 10 degrees all night starting at 9 p.m.
The ice age is coming, the sun is zooming in
Meltdown expected and the wheat is growing thin
Engines stop running but I have no fear
London is drowning and I live by the river
Been in the thirties in the desert west of Phoenix. Cool for the area but refreshing after the summer heat.
It ain’t so warm here in the Albuquirky metro, either. My brass monkey is singing soprano.
This week has been very cold in Colorado too. It isn’t unusual to get a snow in October, but we had our third snow this week and the cold is lingering all week.
At least the weather will limit how closely your California immigrants can recreate San Francisco and L.A.
There was a time in the 1980s and 90s when more people were moving out of Colorado than moving in. This was also a time when at least once a year we’d get hit with a giant snowstorm that would dump four feet of snow. Winter has been calmer lately and now Californians want to live here.
How dare you!
I drove from Innisfail, Alberta to Kingman, Arizona on Monday and Tuesday and not only was it cold, but the winds were ferocious. I overnighted in Idaho Falls and it was miserable there.
Our middle child moved out of CA to go to graduate school in CO several years back. After completing her studies, she went to work there. Surprisingly, she’s able to handle the winters near Denver just fine.
All three of our kids went to tough climates during studies. One studied in Oregon, Sweden, and Canada. The other also studied in CO. Two moved back to CA and one stayed in CO. She is more of the practical one and found she could afford a house in CO.
Yeah, but that's just Idaho Falls... (kidding, I'm originally from Nampa, ID, so I ain't got nothin' to brag about).
“Record-breaking cold hits Utah”
same with Colorado ... global warming has really failed us just when we need it the most ...
“but the winds were ferocious”
and i bet there were zero gratuitous power outages to prevent forest fires ...
1. Record low temperatures in Utah
2. The Astros lose the World Series.
Trumps fault the Astros lost. He texted the Houston manager to remove the pitcher who was throwing a one hitter after giving up a homer and a walk. /s
