There was a running gag in the 1970's movie What's Up Doc?, in which a supposedly Yugoslavian character named Hugh Simon would walk up to people and say (in a fake accent) "Hello, I am Hugh!" which come out as "Hello, I am you!"

This would cause puzzled and funny responses from person addressed.

In the end, it turned out that the character was a fraud, only pretending to be from Eastern Europe to increase his chances of getting a foundation grant from a wealthy San Francisco doofus played by Austin Pendleton.

The Hugh Simon character was played by the late, great Kenneth Mars.
