I had to put my cat to sleep today, he was suffering. What a good boy, I shall miss him. I know he was only a cat, but I sure did love his company. He was an unusual and interesting cat. He worshiped my wife and followed her around as if she were some kind of feline deity, but would deign to spend some time with me as well.
Damn. I sure will miss him.
Yup.
“He worshiped my wife and followed her around”
sounds like a stalker to me s/

The Rainbows Bridge Poem
RainbowBridge.com
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

I grow very attached to my pets, and have had to do what you had to do twice. Years hence I miss them terribly. I’m sorry for your loss.
My sympathies as well. One of my 11 year olds looks much like yours, and also is conservative ;-) Every time I think of how much I will miss him someday I am reminded to spend time with them now.
How old was he?
Orange tabby’s are fantastic cats.
My cat was 18 in September and I know that the day is coming that he just won't wake up. My little snuggle bunny, he sleeps right up against me.
Condolences, FRiend.
So sorry for your loss. I know the pain. People who dont have pets dont understand.
Mr RooRoo and I lost our 18, 19 and 20 year old cats during the last 7 months. All three were wonderful sweet cats. The grief is real, actual physical pain.
God bless. Peace be with you.
I am sorry about your cat. You won’t be able to replace him, but the time might come that you get a new furry friend who is great in a different way. We just got two kittens a few months ago, and they are good with kids in a way my best cat never could have been.
You will never forget the good times, and you can always be grateful for those.
Sorry for your loss.
Sorry for your loss.
I have a cat that is interested in my wife’s activities. But he sleeps on my legs and sleeps on my lap when I watch TV. He is only 3 and I’m 72 so it will be a race to who outlives the other.
Here he is the day we got him from the shelter:
And thank you to all of you. I didn't really expect any response, but...I appreciated those, knowing how much some of us love our pets. They aren't people, but they give and take love too.
I’m so sorry for the loss of your cat. I have two myself and know how attached we get to them.
We lost Miss Kitty about three months ago. I still tear up when I find one of her toys when housecleaning.
She was a Maine Coon, and her fur was everywhere. Every once in a while a tuft will waft along the floor from who knows where, as if she were coming to greet me.
Losing a beloved pet is no trivial thing.
The Lord’s Peace to you and yours.
I can truly empathize having lost 2 dogs in a year (one old, one 10 mos into her adoption). The pain and loss is truly one akin to the loss of a family member but the joy of having them far out weighs the end.
My heart and prayers are sincere FRiend.
