For those of us of a certain age this may bring back some memories. TV ads and programming promos from 1972.

Need a time machine.
Set dial to 1976.
No return ticket necessary.
Now the Sandy Duncan Show would be a real treat to bring back to the nostalgia channels, lol. I’ve never seen an episode of the New Dick Van Dyke show, even though the 1960s original is one of my all time favourites.
don’t know if i wanna watch this as it might be too sad knowing that life used to be pretty durn great back then (with a few exceptions of course)- and now we’re living in a country that is becoming lost to leftist communism, where science is no longer revered, morals are way out the door, etc etc etc- and we have to fight tooth and nail just to try to hold onto values we once had as a nation. Don’t get me wrong, we’re still a pretty great nation, but we’re losing a LOT of the freedoms AND common sense that we once valued so highly- thanks to the incessant whining and foot stomping of the left, and of progressives, and of the gay agenda, and from feminists etc etc etc
The America i grew up in really took a steep nosedive when obama and his radical socialist agenda took over- Thankfully we now have a president who is trying to repair much of the damage, but most of the damage is permanent I’m afraid, or will be very hard to reverse-
count me in!
Fredflix has multiple years on his channel. It’s terrific and yes, it is sad but, it’s still a pleasant ‘trip’ down memory lane.
The year I graduated from High School.
And those movies? They came from a telecine, which was a TV camera combined with a 16mm film projector, like this:
Whenever I hear the Mystery Movie Theme, I still see a technician loading film reels or going thru a stack of 2" VTR tape to make it through a commercial break.
I was playing in the SE Asia War games, that year, so I missed all this...
From a purely personal perspective: I remember 1972 being a great year. 1978 as asbysmal. 83-95 were my hard-knock years. 2000 I ditched TV (for the internet). 2001 saw America attacked and an artificially strong economy until 2008, when it crashed. Then mailaise until 2016 when the cold civil war began.
The PC watershed moment occurred in 1972. The Frito Bandido was banished from the airwaves. He was the first PC casualty. Weve been spiraling downward ever since.
I was 16 years old in 1972. I remember this America very well. It’s vanished. Watching this almost made me cry. I miss that America. I miss it so much....
I’m 63. The America I grew up in has vanished. Ditto on everything you said.
Rush sometimes opines that November 22, 1963, was the day that the Old America began its transformation from what it was to what its become.
I did not recognize Farrah Fawcett.
(Dubonnet commercial w/ Tom Selleck)
Exactly- i remember when he was banned-
[[Weve been spiraling downward ever since.]]
We absolutely have- rules rules rules- all made up by ‘progressives’ that love to put their noses in everyone else’s business- As the song said
Sign, sign
Everywhere a sign
Blockin’ out the scenery
Breakin’ my mind
Do this, don’t do that
Can’t you read the sign?
[[I remember this America very well. Its vanished. Watching this almost made me cry. I miss that America. I miss it so much....]]
Ditto- absolutely agree with you-

Kids had way more freedom in the 1970s. Every day was an adventure and if you got yourself into a jam, well you'd have to figure your way out of it.
In many ways those days were better. But the past always seems rosier when it is in your rear view mirror. We tend to remember the good and forget the bad.
The 1980s with Reagan were the best. Now everything has gone to hell. I don’t even watch American media any more.
I’ll leave you with these:

(As for the second commercial, these people are now the Democratic caucus in the House.)
