It’s six lanes, but it isn’t a highway. The speed limit is 50.
Witnesses said he went off the road and then overcorrected. There is no safety feature to override that.

As for the somewhat vague term “highway”, per Wikipedia:
“In American law, the word “highway” is sometimes used to denote any public way used for travel, whether a “road, street, and parkway”;[4] however, in practical and useful meaning, a “highway” is a major and significant, well-constructed road that is capable of carrying reasonably heavy to extremely heavy traffic.[citation needed] Highways generally have a route number designated by the state and federal departments of transportation.”
