5-6 years ago we was eating at a trendy place on 4th street in Louisville.
Found out sitting in a group next to us was Dave Grohl. The waitress was going crazy. I asked her who is Dave Grohl? I truly had no idea.
She looked at me like I was from another planet.
Dave Grohl did a documentary film about “Sound City” - the iconic studio in Van Nuys. Incredible history that included Nirvana recording their album - to where Lindsey Buckingham met Mick Fleetwood by accident.
The studio was famous for having an incredible sound for drums and THE console, the Neve that was considered to be THE State-Of-The-Art in sound quality.
When the studio closed, Dave Grohl bought the Neve and installed in his home studio. He recorded an album featuring artists that recorded at Studio City (Tom Petty, etc) as well as Paul McCartney who “just happened: to drop by.
