They appear to be (like the Jim Jones cult) some type of offspring of intelligence community mind control experiments.
They are a highly dangerous cult—and should have been banned decades ago.
I should mention there is a massive Mormon temple in Bogota too.
My parents lived down there back in the 90s and that is the creepiest stuff I have seen in person. My mom worked at a back, when a member would come in, they always had someone with them watching. Like a minder. No one said anything, not even small talk - and my mom loves to chat away. There were always weird stories going around and specific members who had issues.
There was a case (don't recall when...80s?) that the government had filed to have that status revoked. But Scientology was able to effectively blackmail prosecutors and some government agents and higher ups. The suit was dropped.
They charge quite a lot even for their introductory type lessons which they call auditing and the fees go up from there. “It is estimated that the cost of reaching the Clear state in Scientology is $128,000.”
So just what is clear, your bank account?
It’s only a “church” because of taxes.
Thanks for that. I’ve watched some of the Lisa Remini series, I guess I missed the part on the auditing lessons.
They have mastered the fine art of separating fools from their money.
They use a pyramid structure—you pay to learn a little bit, then you pay more to learn a little more, etc.
I am sure the definition of “clear” changes multiple times.
Scientology is a word salad—brainwashing through NLP type tactics (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neuro-linguistic_programming). Then they use social pressure tactics to lock you in to their world.
The Leah Remini series (noted elsewhere in this thread) is excellent.
=:-)
Another Clinton crime. Took a bribe and said scientology was a religion.
