To: Oscar in Batangas

THESE are the times that try men’s souls. Britain, with an army to enforce her tyranny, has declared that she has a right (not only to TAX) but “to BIND us in ALL CASES WHATSOEVER” and if being bound in that manner, is not slavery, then is there not such a thing as slavery upon earth. Even the expression is impious; for so unlimited a power can belong only to God.

Great observation.

In this age of instant communication, however, we may only have days and weeks, not months and years, before the other side’s ‘grievances’ fester into rage and require a response we are loath to perform.

The crisis is just outside the door already

Mr. Trump tried much too hard to get along with his “loyal” opposition right from the start, unfortunately.

But he did often admit that things were much worse than even he had imagined.
