So you need an adapter to connect a Rj-11 port to Rj-45?
Thanks. Which MagicJack are you using?
I am always curious about people paying $39 a year for Magic Jack when Google gives the same service away for free. Why is it that you do it?
Thanks, So how do you connect?
Thanks. Good to know.

The voip phones at my new facility are atrocious at times.
Eventually those will come to my current building. I am not looking forward to it from a complaint standpoint. However, I hate getting phone calls so people may get discouraged and leave me alone.
Sorry, I meant to reply to Daniel1212 and accidentally sent it to you instead.
Those speeds and latency are more than fine for VoIP.
You have broadband. DSL and cable both frequency test and use what works.

Thanks. The "or" is key for me.
Or you could try google voice. free for domestic (US) calls, modest charge for international (you'll have to have a deposit)
I have used Google Voice which works well. Which prompts another question, how to connect Google Voice to a landline phone. And I have searched but it is unclear.
“DOWNLOAD 28.42 Mbps UPLOAD 17.90 Mbps LATENCY 20 ms JITTER 8 ms Your broadband connection and line quality is Excellent (Daniel)”
(You)”Looks like you are on a POTS line (Plain Old Telephone System) or copper line and not a VOIP. VOIP at the lowest I have seen are 1.5 meg (T1). If you go below that then you are copper)
Say again? Daniel has 28 megabits per second down load speeds and near 18 megabit speeds for upload. That’s middle average (can be dsl(rare),optical or cable) broad band...enough for streaming 1080p.
If this is over WIFI you are in great shape. There is 0 reason for there to be any problem with VIOP on that connection. Even your jitter is low which is what causes “choppy” sound and drops. Something else is wrong causing your drops. You should easily be able to run a 15 simultaneous line rock solid VIOP on that connection, if not more.
You have several options starting with the “Fisher Price” solution... MagicJack. It is idiot proof but somewhat limited.
You could go with SIP phones (The Panasonic desktop and wireless phones are stellar quality and cheap) and have a multi-extension capability. (Pro features like music on hold, transfer capability, out of office message, forwarding, etc.) Think office features and reliability.
Really depends on how many extensions you want and what features you need. MagicJack may be enough.
Faxing on VIOP can be problematic. A few pages works on most just fine. For secure end to end faxing of lots of pages it can be a nightmare. If having extremely high security is not a concern (HIPPA or other gov requirement) then go with one of the online providers. Cheap and easy, secure enough and it just seems like email to you.
My customers have had good luck with Jive as their VIOP provider.
To make a non WIFI SIP phone base a wireless base just pick up a WWDRT capable used router at Goodwill and set it up as a bridge. A router to router bridge is a lot more reliable than router to computer. (I run 2 here at home. $2.99 for one and $3.99 for the other) Both routers have much better transmit and receive than a wireless card. (More power/better antennas)
It is Comcast cable, which at 28.42 Mbps and upwards is much faster than Verizon copper "Enhanced Internet" at 1Mbp to 15Mbps.
I do not think 28.42 Mbps (one Megabit per second) is too slow to be broadband. "As an example, if your broadband download speed is 50Mbps, (extremely generous - average U.S internet speeds only just topped 18.7Mbps in 2017), downloading a game, 100 songs, a full HD quality movie or 100 photos is up to 20 times faster with a Gigabit fiber connection." - https://www.fastmetrics.com/how-fast-is-fiber-optic-internet.php

Connectivity to landline. I have used GV and looked into connecting it to a LL phone but found no clear way to do so.
With MJ it seems you can connect to the PC which is wirelessly connected to the Int. but how can you connect and use a LL phone with GV?
just re-read your post... sorry for missing the big piece....as I understand it, you want to connect wirelessly ?
I don’t understand why you can’t connect magic jack and a phone to a router on another floor ?
Is the modem a router\modem combo ?
Curious how you cancelled comcast internet yet still get it wireless ?
See my post 39. We use OBi202 devices. We have been using them for years now. They are still around $90 and the wifi adapter is around $30. They take just a few minutes to setup. All of the ones we have and have setup for family and friends have come from Amazon Prime.
The only irritating step is that if you want to keep your current landline number you have to first port it to a cell phone and then port it to Google Voice. T-mobile prepaid has been the cheapest to do this in the past. $10 to T-mobile and then $20 to Google. If you don’t care about keeping your number this doesn’t affect you.
So your insurance agent is really plugged in.
I recall it plugged into his computer, which was on WiFi. It means the computer would need to be on, though.
No problem, as I have older units which could be used for this.
It is over WIFI, which sometimes went as high as 80Mbps
You could go with SIP phones
And so I Googled, What are SIP Phones ?

I have a fairly new Verizon router/modem that they gave me shortly before I switched to Comcast, but it still likely belongs to them. In any case if i had a modem I could use then I need to educate myself on doing this.
Thanks for the help already.
