I agree.
Denial and dismissal for lack of standing are not the same. Hood catch.

Good catch. Wish FR had a edit function.

I believe we should be able to sell our organs and not only donate them.
... I believe we should be able to sell our organs and not only donate them
Well, if you are alive, selling a kidney, skin, or part of a liver would be useful
If yer dead, well, you dont own them, so you cant sell them.
you got a personal stake in this buddy?
You said:The hospital cannot and will not take organs unless the parents/guardians give them the ok to do so. Such misinformation is unjust to the people who need them . Been there done that.
But they can and do declare people prematurely brain dead IN SPITE OF OBJECTIONS OF PARENTS OR FAMILY WITH LEGAL HEALTH CARE POWER OF ATTORNEY.
Make sure your loved ones take off the organ donor on driver’s license. It trumps even legal decision members in some states.
Why didnt they take him elsewhere? This shit happens every day.
This thread is full of idiotic comments.
No one wants your dried up, stinky smelling unused organs.
I hope no one you know needs one.
Except you realize that they are using genetic markers to customize chemotherapy to the individual, right? Solves lung cancer with almost no side effects.
Try reading something new before expressing bullshit, ignorant opinions.
Yea you would have a cardiac arrest if your oxygen was cut off!
The people who make these decisions all have addresses. Im just saying.

What does that tell you? The hospital turns into a long term care facility? You realize after the declaration, the hospital gets zero reimbursement? And you realize that some person who can live should be in that ICU bed. How would you like your wife or husband die because they needed the respirator this corpse was using.
Ignorant posts actually reinforce peoples opinion to avoid organ donation. And trust me, if you ever spent time working in an ICU, you would know the staff will not rush to harvest anything. You make these people out to be ghouls.
You should be ashamed of your ignorance.
Its not true. That would get any medical practitioner jailed. In addition, the funeral director would know if they were donors, and would be obligated to report missing parts.
Your internet rumor stuff sounds like a Halloween story.
Shame on you for spreading it.
That is just stupid.

In most states, in cases of death under mechanical means of support, if 2 doctors say you are dead, you are dead. The POA has no standing in this regard.
Yeah, and abortionists don't rush to sell aborted baby parts either. That would be ghoulish.

Yeah, sure...except for this little fact you failed to either read or acknowledge..
Bobbys family brought the case to court to seek more time to arrange a transfer for their son.
They just wanted time to move him out of the precious ICU bed so this boy wouldn't take up the space. Apparently there was some disagreement as to whether the boy was actually brain dead. If the hospital doesn't get reimbursed, why make the declaration while there is possible doubt and it's against the parents' wishes?
The problem is mentality like yours who always seem to err on the side of death.
Because everybody knows that every funeral director is pure as the driven snow and couldn't possibly be corrupted by a huge payoff from the sale of human organs.
Do you seriously believe all the Pollyanna bull you're dishing out?
BS opinion on your part. Most of Medicine has yet to become personalized to the point of individualized drugs.

If surrogates want to leave mechanical means operative they have the moral right to do so. The law should reflect that right. Many people have been prematurely and mistakenly declared dead according to your scenario.
The determination of death pursuant to brain death criteria is fraught with mistakes.
