This is 1972 all over again - Richard Nixon was never generally well-liked, and the press and media loathed him something fierce. But the radical policies proposed by McGovern made that a 49-state sweep for Nixon.

The only difference that I see is that there will be no equivalent of the Watergate break-in or cover-up. That, and the Republicans will control both Houses of Congress next term, rather than the Dems as they did in 1973. So this will turn out WAY better, even if Trump “only” wins 40 states.
