This is about as bizarre a story as I’ve read in a while. Nothing really makes sense.
It's certainly not believable the way it sits...
Because you're only getting information from one side, a side with something to hide.
Same here......I believe their story about being tourists from the UK, but with all that cash on hand, they were likely approached by somebody to illegally transport an illegal or illegals across the border.......
Back around 1972 a friend of mine was stationed in Berlin while in the Army. He and another guy drove a modified vehicle into East Berlin and picked up a family of four, hiding them in the expanded trunk, then brought them back across the border into West Berlin.
He now admits it was stupid on their part considering the consequences they would have faced had they got caught.......
