I have read a few articles on this and it is sad and tragic. The officer that shot the lady needs to pay. The family needs to be compensated. Training needs to be done. This was uncalled for. They could have knocked on the door...announced their presence...a whole myriad of things they could have done and this Auntie would still be alive. I know the NYT is painting a story here...but in the end, this was an uncalled for shooting.
I remember that video of the police shooting a guy in a hotel lobby. They yelled out conflicting commands...and then shot him. His crime? He had purchased a new bb gun and was showing it to his girlfriend in the room. Someone had seen the barrel of the gun from outside and called the cops. Of course it was a good shoot. I imagine this one too, will be labelled as such...as the officer no doubt feared for their life...
“Needs to be compensated”
Problem there, it is extracted from the taxpayers, who, it should be pointed out, did not shoot this lady. What good does that do? Nothing, that’s what.
But he won't. He'll skate--just like the cops who killed Daniel Shaver in Arizona and the ones who shot two women delivering newspapers in Torrance, Calif. in 2013.
1. Stupid Cop
2. Bad Shoot
3. Cop and Fort Worth will pay heavily. Fort Worth will pay much money and the cop will pay with much time in jail.
I like cops and the vast majority are the good guys. However, it does make me wonder about the quality of Fort Worth Cops relative to their training. I have no idea if it is good or bad.
The Austin police force is the odd man out. Austin is very liberal and run by idiots of the left. However, Austin has an extremely professional cadre of cops. They are firm, they are polite and men of extremely good training and judgement. They do not make bad shoots.
