The family will have financial consequences.

As for the cop, he should get 25 or 30 years at a minimum.

If you had fired the shot, the prosecution would have contended that a person on the other side of a wall is not a a threat until they are breaching the wall.

Many a person has gone to prison for shooting through a door at someone on the outside of that door.

Not sure how you can be so certain that what the cop did was so outrageous. The police get called to what essentially was a suspected burglary in progress. The door is wide open at 230 am. Also, a handgun was found next to the deceased. This is a tragedy. Don’t compound it by prejudging

The murderous cop who barged into another man's apartment and murdered him in cold blood only got 10 years ... and an outpouring of glurge and a hug from the judge.
