Average per mile pace of 4:33.5 for 26.2 miles is ridiculous. In my prime, personal best was 5:03 for *one* mile.
One thing not mentioned and likely not done for this unofficial event was a drug test. African runners are notorious and prolific PED and blood doping abusers. Kipchoge is an international superstar of distance running, but I don’t think the superhuman times he’s run have come naturally.
I’m just going to be happy for him for the time being. If he turns out to be another Lance Armstrong dirtbag, that would be a shame.
