After 7 years on 10mg Lipitor with no issues, switched to the starch-based plant diet. Total cholesterol fell precipitously. After 3 months and a pound a week weight loss, doc concurred to drop statin and check back in 4 months. TC stayed down to levels similar to taking statin. I play sports and there’s a risk of permanent muscle damage, and better to not take chances with statin. Read The Starch Solution (Dr John McDougall), Prevent and and Reverse Heart Disease (Dr Caldwell Esselstyn), Program for Reversing Diabetes (Dr Neal Barnard), and The China Study (T Colin Campbell, PhD Nutritionist). Do your own research. I’m down 20-25 lbs from before, and stayed down for last 8 years to 11th grade weight and BMI 23. Food cost is much lower too! All the protein one needs — believe it or now.

Meant to say weight fell precipitously, while TC fell further. Weight continued to fall over 7 month period before stabilizing to still current weight. Essentially, stopped eating fat and high cholesterol foods associated with meats (white, red, fish), except a little here and there.
