“What is the thought process when doing the yoga?”

The few times I went to a class across the street it was nothing... none..zip. Except the teacher was saying things to help people relax and destress a little bit....there in that 140 degree room.

I went about 6 weeks until I hurt a rotator cuff. Every time I walked out the door I felt like I’d been hit by a Mac truck. Gave me a whole new respect for that bunch.

But I was kinda uncomfortable with the part where we had to dance around that golden cow idol and swear loyalty to the cow. I wondered if that was kinda religious..

Yoga being religious or not depends of the instructor and the purpose and intent someone has in taking Yoga exercise classes.

Almost everyone I know who has taken, or is taking Yoga classes has done so to improve their body by learning exercise to become more limber, to learn how to relieve tension and relax, to learn how to notice and control breathing, and for how all of that can improve health. None of them have ever talked about getting anything religious from it, unless if all the above is translated as “religion”.

Can Yoga be taught with Hindu religious beliefs? Yes. Does it have to be taught only that way? No. Is it always taught only that way? No.

Hindus believe in many Gods, while Buddhists do not believe in God, and both in many parts of the world have people who practice Yoga. If Yoga was paramount to either Hindus or Buddhists most Hindus and Buddhists would practice Yoga. Most do not.

Yes, the origins of Yoga (about 5,000 years ago in the Indus River civilizations) began with a priesthood seeking to train new potential priests in ways to develop and train the body to remove physical distractions from the mind seeking peace and enhlightment.

Yoga then over the centuries kept get modified, and often abbreviated or changed, with different Yoga schools establishing new brands of Yoga. There are less than a dozen semi-offical brands (schools) of Yoga that came out of that history, with the latest one - Hatha Yoga - being the usual version that was imported to western society.

But in western society, Yoga has again gone through many changes, and many differences in how it is taught, and why it is taught.

From preparing the body for meditation and seeking “enlightment” within a priesthood more than 5,000 years ago, Yoga as morphed DOWN into the physical essentials in its practice by most westerners - who want a leaner, relaxed, less tense body (and don’t seek that for “enlightment”).

The finger position used by priests to make the sign of the cross is also a mudra.

Absolutely not! Yoga literally means, “ yoked” to the demonic realm. That is why you are told to empty yourself and then awaken the serpent spirit in you. This becomes demon possession...

Then don’t call it yoga, call it stretching. Yoga is a Hindu term for being yoked to the spirit (demonic) realm

Don’t watch the Olympics because they were originally dedicated to the Greek Gods ! What do you think that Olympic flame is for? It’s “Hey Zeus look at me!”. Since ALL (and I mean all!) Western sporting events are derived from Greece\Rome and were dedicated to their gods. To be sure you’d better not watch any of them. In fact don’t participate in any sports! Don’t watch any entertainment theater live or otherwise! That was all originally dedicated to Apollo! Art ? Particularly realistic art & sculpture, for Westerners those blasted Greeks & Romans again!

Days of the week can’t use their names! All of them are named after a pagan deity! Sunday & Monday you’re calling on Celtic deities, Tuesday through Saturday you’re calling on the Norse/Germanic gods. Saturday is Saturn’s Day, but the Romans associated the Germanic God with the Titan Saturn, the Germanic name has since been forgotten! So isn’t calling out the name of the god is to acknowledge his\her reality?

Or are we just going to make a special case here?

Yoga is a form of exercise and that’s it! Some dress it up as a religion to scam the suckers. Just ignore the scammers and get the good out of it — the exercise!

So throw away those rings and NO CHRISTMAS FOR YOU!!! :)

As a Christian, I don’t celebrate pagan Christmas. Why? Because it has become a secular celebration about eating too much and getting drunk, and buying useless consumer stuff (hint, the modern “Christmas” has nothing to do with Christ and everything to do with commercial consumer culture—you’re free to sing Frosty the Snowman, Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer and Jingle Bell Rock, but think about it, when was the last time you heard Away in the Manger or other Christ centered hymn being played?).

Do some research, most Protestants were strongly opposed to Christmas for the same or similar reasons up until the mid to late 1800s, when “progressive” Christianity began to take hold. I’m fine with going to an advent service or a Christmas Eve service at church (but even there, the Christmas Eve service has basically become pagan in most Protestant churches), but that’s where it ends for me.

On rings, there is mixed authority for and against them in Scripture. Giving wedding rings is also relatively recent in Protestant denominations. This one I don’t have a real problem with, because it is neutral and not wicked and can be seen as a sign of commitment to a Christian marriage.

The one you really have to watch out for is Halloween, that is completely Satanic. And see how it has grown in America the past few years. It is becoming bigger than Christmas. A very bad sign of what is happening in our country spiritually.

I’m trying to incorporate eating fast food into Christianity.

So far i’ve found nothing in the Bible to back it up.

Check out Mark 2:23 and Matthew 12.1.

Thank you. That is what Steven Bancarz spoke of. He was huge in New Age, an author in the same, huge YouTube following...then Jesus grabbed him.

There is nothing in the Bible to back up usage of mobile devices either. I will have to seriously reconsider.

Not true. Yoga is Hindu and involves emptying yourself to awaken the serpent spirit in you called Kundalini. Demonic possession

You can’t show me a single Bible verse about Yoga. It had been around about 600 years when Jesus was born, but he never even thinks it’s a big enough deal to say a single word about it. And Paul who scolded people on EVERYTHING didn’t warn people off of it either.

But he did say a thing or two about Pharisees, law followers, scolds and gossips. If the worst thing a woman does is go to yoga class, that’s not too bad in my book. People do things a hundred times worse than yoga. They get divorced, they cheat, get drunk, get obese, hang out on the parking lot and gossip, fail to bring anything when they have an afternoon potluck feed at the church...yet they still eat.

Yoga ain’t so bad. And it sure looks pretty! I wouldn’t do it in St Peters square, but hey, horses for courses.

You need to read the whole article, the writer is a Yoga practitioner and a Christian.

Yeah, people who claim to be Christians also engage in homosexual activity, which is explicitly prohibited by Scripture. Check out I Cor. 6:9 as well as numerous other scriptures.

The fact is, most people who claim to be Christians aren’t. If America were in fact 70-80% Christian, as people claim, you would have a totally different country from what it actually is now. Especially in terms of what people think is ok in entertainment.
