Net worth is the value of everything you own minus the debt you have.

Usually, yes, net worth includes the value of your real property minus mortgage, as well as retirement/pension/401(k) minus liabilities (credit cards, loans, etc.).

Generally, net worth is assets minus liabilities (what you own minus what you owe). Net income is income minus expenses (what you earn minus what you spend).

I see net worth as the total worth of everything that you own that has monetary value (equity in your home being one example) minus all monies that you owe to others (the balance owed on your mortgage for example).
