John Hayward@Doc_0

Watching the hacks who trashed Mitt Romney as a tax-dodging, cancer-spreading, Muppet-ravaging, dog-torturing vampire capitalist promise him respect and an exalted place in history if he helps bring Trump down will remind a LOT of people why they voted for Trump.

Does everyone really need to be reminded of how Romney’s hapless honorable-loser routine set the stage for Trump? Do you think we’ve forgotten the sick spectacle of slimeballs like Harry Reid chortling about how they took Romney down with bullshit accusations and innuendo?

Maybe this is all just a big game to the Beltway pundit community, but the rest of us watched out lives, livelihoods, and culture put at risk throughout the Obama presidency. We paid a HUGE price for Romney’s sad-sack campaign. It wasn’t a spectator sport to us.

Sure, people blamed Obama for his gutter-dwelling win-at-all-costs re-election campaign, but they also came to blame Romney for blowing it. They grew tired of Repubs who don’t even know what “win at all costs” MEANS, let alone how to fight with that intensity.

The GOP electorate got sick and tired of their own candidates treating them like the audience at a political football game, expecting them to buy tickets and passively watch the show. The GOP didn’t see it’s own constituents as people worth fighting like wildcats for.

The concerns of GOP voters were just pieces on a game board, to be moved around and tossed aside as needed. This was most palpable when it came to immigration. It’s no coincidence that was Trump’s breakthrough issue.

And now you’re going to bring out Mitt Romney - the same guy who saddled Americans with unfathomable costs and cultural destruction by allowing himself to become a punching bag in the 2012 election - and make a big show of promising him glory if he helps impeach Trump?

This isn’t even happening behind the scenes. You’re doing it in public, right in front of the voters’ noses. You’re telling Romney history will be rewritten to forget about “binders full of women” and “47 percent” and Bain Capital if he does you a service by taking Trump out.

And Romney is very publicly entertaining the offer, to the applause of NeverTrumpers, leaving Republican voters at the mercy of a deranged lunatic Democrat Party that brags openly of how it will use every scrap of government power to crush them.

It’s the biggest-budget, splashiest four-star production of Failure Theater ever, with Romney coming out of obscurity to make his big play for the Best Gentleman Loser of All Time award. Actual voters - our livelihoods, our children, our nation - are being treated like props.

If this nonsense with Mitt Romney, Impeachment Hero is all some brilliant Machiavellian plot to energize Trump supporters, then my congratulations to all involved, because watching Romney sell them out for a “place in history” is going to make them incandescent with fury. /end
