Reddit users have voiced their disgust with a San Diego real estate listing that is asking for just under $1,100 to live in a shed.
Located in the city's University Heights, the tiny 'updated studio' is 200 sq-ft and is being managed by an Arizona company, JD Property Management and Realty.
The $1050 listing advertises that the studio comes with a bath and a 'small kitchen' that consists of several cabinets, a sink, gas stove and a mini fridge.
Recently updated, the home does have freshly laminated floors and an AC unit.

After getting out of the Army my first STUDIO apartment was not much bigger than this.
If it meets the building codes and someone is willing to pay the rent, what is the problem?
That rates out to $3,610 in today's money.
They could get $1500 in the San Fernando Valley
Those pictures show how inaccurate the articles title is. Thats no shed. Its actually a decent small apartment, much nicer - and larger - than the one I lived in while I was in college.
I saw then renting pods/bunk-beds in Ca for 1200.00 a month.
I would pick this any day. I think it’s cute.
They start at $1800 in PACOIMA!!!
That little place is in a very good location in San Diego. It is close to downtown, San Diego Bay, Balboa Park, etc. Location location location
Looks like a room in the barracks.
The article was funny. I actually chuckled at the responses of indignation.
*’This clown will find some hick from the sticks to pay this, brag to his neighbors and set the precedent for others to charge this. SMH.’*
This person thinks hicks from the sticks are stupid. Let me tell you, we are a lot smarter than we are given credit for.
First off, we wont pay that kind of money for that size place. Maybe $300 a month? Around here where I live, $1050 a month gets you a home thats 2500 sq ft and an acre of land. So whos the stupid one?
Well I can understand families wanting larger homes. The Tiny House craze though is something else ...anywhere from 200-500 SF. If people want to live in something like that then that’s their choice. Conversely, if people want to live in Mansions it’s their choice. That’s the beauty of America. I live in 900SF and it’s fine for me and if I sold and moved to another home I would look for approximately the same size. It’s all choice. But this Tiny House thing seemed to be trying to set a standard to mandate all of us to that in the future.
Yeah, but is it a She Shed?
Area is very dense. Location location location, if someone really wants to live in that area that’s not a bad way in. Of course, if you want cheaper/better then go elsewhere. Given zoning, that listing exemplifies the reality of carrying capacity of the area being strained.
In San Francisco, they live in pods with paper thin walls and communal bathrooms.
Neil Diamond once sang that in L.A. rents were low.
Made me wonder what he was smoking.
