I’m so glad I was in engineering. 99% of them were conservative. Any other major would’ve driven me nuts, except for maybe the sciences like physics or chemistry, they seemed good, too. Most of my general ed profs were total toolboxes. Believe it or not, one of my best classes was Ethics in Biotechnology. It was taught jointly by a philosophy prof and a doctor in the Microbiology Dept. I figured the philosophy prof would be a total leftist fruit-basket but he was really good. I don’t know how he stayed in the Philosophy Dept. without going nuts. Both profs were really good, I won the lottery on that one.
I think it still depends on where you go to school.
At my community college and main university, it’s liberals. Doesn’t much matter what your major is. I did SEEM to have more conservative professors at the univ than CC (damn liberal physics guy still working here at CC), but the students - I could count on my hand how many engineering/science co-students were conservative.
This is all near my home which is confoundedly liberal. I’m native but surrounded by interlopers from DC.
This female was usually outnumbered in more ways than 1. Hated it. Still hate it working in college and living here.
