Two Philadelphia Abortion Centers Close Their Doors, Victory for Women and Children

An interesting turn of events has brought renewed hope to the City of Brotherly Love.

Within just the past few months, the Pennsylvania Department of Health reports that two Philadelphia abortion centers have shut their doors.

The closures have received scant—if any—attention in the media sphere. However, the closures are definitely significant—especially in light of the sordid history of abortion in southeastern, PA.

West Philadelphia, for instance, was where abortionist/convicted killer Kermit Gosnell plied his grisly trade. Gosnell is now serving three consecutive life sentences in connection with the murders of three newborn babies. He was also convicted of involuntary manslaughter for the death of a female immigrant patient, Karnamaya Mongar. A pregnancy center is hoping to buy the facility on Lancaster Avenue where Gosnell’s House of Horrors once operated.

Meanwhile, pro-life advocates learned of the closing of the two Philadelphia abortion centers through a routine check of the Pennsylvania Department of Health website.

Berger and Benjamin is an abortion center located in Philadelphia. The Pennsylvania Department of Health, in its June inspection report, wrote, “This report is the result of a special monitor survey conducted onsite on June 24, 2019, at Berger and Benjamin, LLP. The facility voluntarily ceased services and relinquished their registration certificate.”

Similarly, Drexel OB/Gyn Associates at Feinstein is the name of another Philadelphia abortion center, located on one of Philadelphia’s main thoroughfares, Broad Street. The Pennsylvania Department of Health wrote , “This report is the result of a special monitor survey conducted onsite on August 9, 2019, at Drexel OB/GYN Associates At Feinstein. The facility voluntarily ceased services and relinquished their registration certificate.”

Philadelphia remains the abortion capital of Pennsylvania, but these two abortion facility closures should help to drive down abortion totals in the Keystone State. Abortions in PA have generally been on a dramatic decline since the mid-1990s, when the state’s landmark Abortion Control Act went into effect. The law, which became a model for the rest of the nation, provides for informed consent, parental consent, and 24-hour waiting periods for abortion.

Pro-life advocates in Pennsylvania have good reason to celebrate. Every abortion center closure is a victory for pregnant women and their children. It is a sign of the renewal of the culture of life in the Commonwealth. And it is the harbinger of even greater pro-life victories to come!

Horror grips us as we watch you die
All we can do is echo your anguished cries
Stare as all human feelings die
We are leaving, you don’t need us

Sounds like the little black babies of Philly have a slightly better better chance of making it to the age of 1 minute.

I wonder how this will play out. Will there be a spike in the number of women taking RU-486, and will that lead to a rise in hospital admissions due to complications?
