Yeah, well, the line we bought into in the 60s was that so many pollutants were being spewed into the air we were absolutely going to block out the sun's rays which would cause an ice age and we're all going to die.

What did that mean to me? It meant my first ever new muscle car, a 1973 Mustang Mach 1 with a 351 Cleveland, an otherwise solid motor, only put out a little over 100 horsepower.

Plus, we never had an ice age. Next thing I know, it's now global warming. Dweebs.
