As soon as the news broke Wednesday night in The Washington Post that a whistle-blower had accused the president of making some sort of nefarious promise during a call to a foreign leader, the hive erupted. Huh! WFB coined the term "the hive" about 40 years ago, as a metaphor for the whole left-wing amalgam of media, academia, Democrat party hacks, and government administrators. It never really seemed to catch on as I wished it would; this is the first time I've ever seen anyone not on the right use the term.

Joe Sobran used the term regularly in his columns. Of course, WFB fired Sobran, so his reach was limited. But you are right. I have never seen a Dowd-type use it. She may not realize she's part of it.
