You can find a much better series called
Great Canal Journeys which shows lifelong narrowboat travelers Timothy West and Prunella Scales traveling canals throughout the UK, Europe and the world. They are both actors but Prunella Scales is most famous as Sybil, the wife of Basil Fawlty (John Cleese) in Fawlty Towers.
Even at the beginning Prunella was experiencing early signs of dementia and after a couple of seasons she had to admit that she could no longer remember the names of her own children. By the later series both were mostly passengers. The thing that is relevant to this story is that they would show Prunella messing up things she was supposed to be doing to get the boat through the locks. It may have looked cute at the time but how many people who aren't famous television personalities doing the same thing without being filmed?

I find I’m not particularly fond of the narrator/boat owner in Travels by Narrowboat, he seems to be really full of himself. But the scenery is very pleasant in an English understated way and the thunk-thunk of his boat’s motor is calming after a busy day of retirement. Apparently there are loads of narrowboat videos out there. I knew it was a thing, but had no idea how big a thing it is.
