I cannot imagine any circumstance in which I would think taking this drug is a good idea. If you make wise lifestyle choices, your chances of getting HIV are minuscule. In fact, the chance of getting any STD is pretty low.

no kidding. it’s nothing more than a combination of two existing HIV antiviral drugs patented as a prophylactic, and taking it would be akin to taking penicillin all the time to avoid possible gonorrhea from unprotected sex.

the potential side-effects of Truvada are mind-boggling ... seems to be that taking basic safe-sex precautions would be saner than taking this drug and hoping for the best ...

also, i can’t believe that the FDA didn’t consider the likelihood that taking this drug as a prophylactic is likely to spawn some sort of resistant HIV ... the FDA would certainly object to taking an antibiotic on a daily basis as a precaution against gonorrhea or any other bacterial infection for that matter ...
