The tone was not, we will go to Jews and get them to stop their own tourism to Iceland.
It was also not, we will tell Israel to complicate efforts to develop Israeli tourism inside of Iceland.
It was also not, we will focus on Jews in the USA to not go their and spend their money.
The tone absoluuuuutely was, "We will smear you like hell inside of the American market soooo much that the average slobbering farmer from Nebraska, who has never heard of Jews outside of their local Church sermon or 100 Holocaust movies --on whom we depend on but completely HATE-- will have a negative image of you, and he/she won't spend his money in your country."
THAT is how it was crafted; WE were being used to bludgeon a totally different entity, allies, yes, but a great metaphor for how it has gone for 60 years at different critical points. We Americans didn't even need to be physically present, we were a beast of burdon, without even showing up.
Also, there might have been fewer than 100 Jews in all Iceland, they had zero synagogues and zero Rabbis. The solitary Rabbi who moved there did so only AFTER Iceland started talking about stopping circumcision, the couple didn't speak the language and knew nothing about the country:
They were there specifically in order to serve as political activists under color of religiosity and their mission was to aggravate things; they well not have conducted services for locals.
Again, the American market and good, trusting people totally unversed in the complexities of the Arab/Israel matter (and even most things pertaining to Jews everywhere, outside of the Israel matter) were hijacked as props, as glassyeyed, slobbering instruments in a war of cultural terror in place that had NOTHING to do with us.
Finally one who is starting to get it.
