those thoughts can be relaxing or enjoyable at times, LOL
Like a nice glass of Chianti.
Another one is “Mongoloid” to describe people with Down Syndrome. The term was coined because the facial characteristics of Down sufferers resembled those of people native to Mongolia. No offense was intended.
And don’t get me started on “black” and “negro ...”
exactly.
There are only three true “racial” groups. Mongoloid, Caucasian, and Negro. All of the other newer “races” are either offshoots of one or more of those three.
Growing up in the 1970’s, a common retort was “What are you, some kind of retard?” “Retard” was often pronounced with a “t” at the end.
I prefer, "Treat every gun as if it was loaded."
Your version is a statement of fact which we know is sometimes false.
My preferred version is a commandment like the other three. It makes the point that even unloaded guns must be treated as if they are loaded so as to prevent damage in case the knowledge about the gun is faulty.
I'm curious. Where does that put the Australian aborigine? Are they an offshoot of one of the three?
We have folks here on FR that get pissed when you say retard.
I agree, it means slow. Get over yourselves.
( frankly I think all the tweaks we have to make in our speech are just to soothe the parents egos)
thank you! that what i was taught in school.
I’m old enough to remember when “mentally retarded” was the “correct” way to describe it, instead of the older imbecile, idiot, moron, or feeble index.
That has me stumped as well, some think they came from Asia and others Africa.
me too.
A first sentence or maybe more is missing, so thanks for the clarification.
bump
My daughter used to work for a nursing home for handicapped teens.
I don’t remember their local PC name used for the public, but when she got her W2s it said Institute for the Mentally Retarded.
Colored became negro which became black which became African American. Each of those words means the same. Never mind there are many Caucasians who are African and most blacks in America who never set foot in Africa nor had their ancestors.
Same with midget to dwarf to little person. Frankly, “little person” seems condescending but that’s what they want today. Tomorrow it’ll be something else.
There are some who can’t agree on He and She so insist on ze and they. Enough with these word games. I’m sick of them.
I’ve never heard spaz used that way.
I’ll continue to say “spazzed out”.
Why is "colored people" a no-no while the more awkward phrase "people of color" is used by everyone on the Left?
