Where I live, only about 15% voted for Trump. I was selling some stuff at a flea market a few months ago, and an older woman (older than me!) bought a heavy garden pot. I offered to carry it to her car for her. She said, "No, thank you. I carry my own burdens." The woman selling next to me said, "She's probably a Republican; they say things like that."
Your response should have been, no, the Republican offers to help without expecting anything in return.
