When you install used parts, doesn’t that void the warranty?

Who would have thought that a huge hunk of steel like an aircraft carrier anchor would need to be replaced? What are they using for metal?

I made 2 1/2 tours on the Gulf of Tonkin aboard the USS Enterprise. I was part of the airwing VF-96.

I was in the Navy we operated with her on several cruises after she was commissioned. Does that make me old? On second thought, don’t answer that.

Chinese anchors don’t last as long as the older American made anchors.

Yes frequently...CVN cant pull into a lot of ports and will anchor in the harbor...on my deployment on Roosevelt we were never pierside during the deployment.
In my four years in, I served on the USS Peleliu. We dropped the anchor twice.
You train for these things, but you're never really prepared for the incredibly loud noise and immense power of that thing dropping and the chain flying right by you.
Quite the experience.

Two West-Pacs 81-85 here.
My dad was also on her in the early 70s, a Vought company rep working with the A-7s. Don't remember the airwing designation.

Spent three years under #3 cat water brake, on the 03 level.
The next-to-last shot of chain for the anchor is painted yellow; the last shot is red. SOP was to run if you saw yellow and the brake wasn’t engaged.
To: Larry Lucido
Hahahahaha....
We lost an anchor and a large amount of chain on the JFK near...Signoella, I think. (It has been a while)
They went through a huge effort to recover it, so...it must have been worth something.
