An excellent and well written article that contains actual data from several studies related to diet and type 2 diabetes.

Recommended reading for anyone on or considering the Keto diet. Also recommended reading for anyone with elevated A1c.

Keto and Intermittent Fasting is a powerful combination.

The great thing is that doing Keto reduces feelings of hunger and makes it much easier to do fasting.

In my case, it’s basically an early dinner, no breakfast, and a late lunch.

Diabetes is about the most diabolic disease I can think of. It’s time that a vaccination be developed.

Since we are having a great discussion here, I wonder what others think of MCT (medium-chain tryglyceride) oil. I never heard of it until recently and my wife has been bugging me to try it. Looks like it's made from either coconut or palm oil and supposedly it helps with keto diets.

I try to avoid supplements, the only supplement I use is Vitamin D3, as I'm a big believer in getting my nutrition from natural food sources.

But I thought I'd throw that out there and see if anybody has opinions on MCT one way or the other.

I think I will try to hunt down the recipe threads that have been posted here over the years that focused on low carb.

I will also start looking at the recipes posted at Active Low-Carber forum again. It is a good place to get an idea on how several of the low carb plans work to see which might be best for you.

https://forum.lowcarber.org/

I quit soda again about 3-4 months ago. I switched to Koolaid made with sugar. I was drinking that and water but now I am basically only drinking water. Over a 1/2 gallon to a gallon every day.

Water is one of the biggest things to make sure you get enough of everyday.

I most likely will be doing a modified low carb and only eating once a day. I can’t eat a lot of fat, nuts or seeds because I had my gall bladder removed. I am one of the “lucky” ones that still suffer attacks. I am still in surgical menopause so that is also a factor.

I am going to be doing this on a very low budget so that should be interesting.
