Summer is (effectively) over, which means it's time to skip over fall and start getting into the Yuletide spirit!

A few weeks after Lifetime unveiled its Christmas slate, Hallmark is officially revealing the premiere dates for a record 40 films this holiday season for the 10th anniversary of its signature programming event, Countdown to Christmas, which kicks off Friday, Oct. 25 on Hallmark Channel and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.

Headlining this year's crop of original movies are network favorites Candace Cameron Bure, Lacey Chabert, Rachael Leigh Cook, Jodie Sweetin, Erin Krakow, Tamera Mowry-Housley and Danica McKellar, as well as Kristin Chenoweth in the marquee movie, Hallmark Hall of Fame's A Christmas Love Story, opposite Scott Wolf. Three films are still casting.

40 Christmas movies and I guarantee not a single mention of Jesus in any of them.

Actually, they show Christmas movies all year long. I like Hallmark movies because they have no violence, no perversion, and are safe to watch with my daughter in the room. They actually show people in churches, people singing in choirs (and have positive things to say about them). They play religious Christmas songs, not mocking Christmas songs. Some of the actors/actresses are not the best, but I gladly watch anyway because they are feel good and mostly in line with my values. They feel like a safe haven in an unsafe world.

Wife watches Hallmark constantly, but I’m too old for all those movies about sex, nudity, and drugs...

They’ll show show them again during their “Christmas in July” push.

Yeah that's my biggest beef with them. They're basically just pulp romance novels that just happen to be set at Christmastime.

My gosh do the women in my life love them though.

I do not have cable. I have started to rent some of them from the local library - year-round.

The scripting and acting are better than I expected. No, they are not especially spiritual, but they are far more wholesome than mainstream Whollyweird.

Just removing the vulgar and profane dialogue actually frees up space for occasionally semi-intelligent conversation.

Counting "Die Hard", there have been 2,227 motion pictures that have been released that feature Christmas.

Not sure if that included the TV movies but it might.

I might undertake watching every single one of them while wearing a heavy Christmas sweater like that pictured below. Yes, I would like to help Make Christmas Great Again. Wish me luck.
