I’m only 65, but my perception is that before the 60’s, a lot of movie stars were almost worshiped as gods, at least in the US.

There are still popular stars, but they just don’t seem to be as “worshipped” as they were in the 30’s and 40’s.

But It just may be me. It seems that there are just too many of them today and the whole “star” thing is diluted.

Over half that list uses pseudonyms, fully or partially (John Baldwin, Steven Tallarico, Richard Starkey, John Anderson, Roberta Joan Mitchell).

1980’s - Lots of great memorable stuff 1990’s - Some good memorable stuff

The late 80's is when PC took over the music industry and forced the Grammies to award RAP prizes - all downhill from there.

Yeah. As a bass player myself, Entwistle is my favorite bass player.

But he didn’t die young. :)

The Struts are pretty good. Kind of a Rolling Stone / Queen vibe.

I'm going to see "The Who" in less than a week.

I kinda prefer the tribute bands though. Cheaper to see and they can actually still hit the notes that the originals have gotten too old to hit.

It's been a good while since I saw Daltrey, but I think he fits into that category. Joe Elliott (Def Leppard) was a bit painful to watch too.

On the other hand, I've seen Journey a couple times with that new kid (Pineda) and, while there is only one Steve Perry, he can really belt it out.

Lots of tribute bands play it the way you REMEMBER hearing it. While with the originals, you kind of feel that you are all growing old together.

The 70’s and 80’s rock I experienced will live forever.

And to be honest, it was a pretty broad Genre. Black Sabbath, The Who, Chicago, Pink Floyd, Jethro Tull, Led Zeppelin, Santana and The Eagles are all part of that, yet if you were an alien from another planet and listened to an album from each group, I doubt you’d lump them in with the same genre, other than “music from earth”.

Entwistle and Squire were my two favorite bassists.

I kinda prefer the tribute bands though.

I want to see Leonid and Friends, they do the early Chicago stuff much better than the "real" Chicago does these days.

Like. :)

I have a few thousand LP’s. I still buy vinyl and occasionally even a new act. The selection of GOOD music today is mind numbing compared to the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s.

Of course, the selection of bad music is even greater. ;)

I pointed out that it seems that the rest of the Dead members, outside of Jerry and their keyboard players, seem to be health freaks for the most part.

For some reason, I now feel like some whipped cream for desert....

A few things:
1. She was pregnant at the time.
2. That is one of the most emulated album covers of all time. Go to google images and type in the title and you’ll see what I mean.
3. For some reason, that album shows up in a lot of movies that feature vinyl records. Check out “Boondock Saints”, when the Italian comes home and starts grabbing everything he can to get out of town. He grabs some records and, yep, it’s in there. :)

I discovered Bill Evans, probably my favorite jazz pianist. “Sunday at the Village Vanguard” is sublime.

Miles took a lot of crap from fellow blacks for having Bill play on “Kind of Blue”.

The Carpenters were “discovered” by Herb Alpert and signed to A&M.

I’m a huge Pink Floyd fan. Go to youtube and check out the videos of “Britt Floyd”. They are arguably BETTER than Pink floyd - LED lighting and computer control are key. Their show very much emulates the Pulse concerts. Their Red Rock one is fantastic.

They played here in Louisville a year or so ago, but I missed them.
