“I sort of summoned LonePalm, but didn’t ping him earlier. He is the go-to Francophile and I don’t mean that in a derogatory way. Sorry for not pinging you, LP.”
yes, i realized Lone Palm was way more french than i will ever be. i do have 3 grandkids who are in french immersion, and one who is in mandarin immersion. the grandchild who speaks mandarin is crazy amazing and only 10! i can count to 10 in french lol. i need to do some language program and try to keep up with them. the mandarin speaking grandson i will never keep up with. he tries to teach me and falls on the floor in laughter. “Nana, that is NOT right!”
i wasn’t aware that for you speaking french was a necessary evil. i do think it a beautiful language. i spent a bit of time in france a million years ago after i graduated from high school and did the let’s tour europe as ignorant americans lol.
if we go back it will be to visit all the ww2 memorials and probably on a tour bus now that i’m older and less adventurous.

I learned as much about English studying French as I did in English class. It made learning computer languages a snap.
My experience with the French military is the reverse of how they are commonly portrayed. Their biggest problem is French politicians.
It is said that Canada was full of promise when they became independent. They thought they would get American technology, French culture, and British politics. What they got was British technology, American culture and French politics.
