The last time the press was NOT intentionally nasty to a Republican first lady was Mamie Eisenhower.
There hasn’t been a nasty thing said by the MS about a Demonrat first lady ever, in my memory.
The press was nasty to Mamie. They called her a drunk. (She had a neurological disorder of some type that made her unsteady on her feet. I don’t remember much, I was pretty young at the time.)
I think they were pretty nice to Laura Bush, because, you know, she’s really on their side. That’s what I thought at the time.
