'Trump can deport you': Teacher terminated for threatening boy who didn't say, 'Yes, sir'
Yahoo Lifestyle ^ | 8/30/2019 | Elise Sole

A teacher in Texas lost his job for suggesting that a Hispanic student, who didn’t address the teacher as “Sir,” could be deported.

“He told him, ‘Even though you are a citizen, Trump is working on a law where he can deport you, too, because of your mom’s status,’” the boy’s mother, who is in the United States legally and asked to remain anonymous, told CBS DFW. Even though they are citizens, her son now fears that he and and his mother will be deported.

The station reports that the boy didn’t wear a belt to The Barack and Michelle Obama 9th Grade Center on Tuesday and was suspended in-house. The school dress code states that belts are “required.”

According to a text message the boy sent his mom, the teacher was upset that he said, “Yeah” and not, “Yes, sir” during a conversation. So the teacher asked the student whether his parents were U.S. citizens, if he had knowledge of the 14th Amendment (which addresses citizenship), and showed him a coin that read, “ICE.”

The mom told CBS DFW that she confronted the teacher and saw the coin herself. She also reached out to a local organization called Parents Supporting Parents for advice.

Chenique Lewis, a founding member of the group, tells Yahoo Lifestyle that the mother is satisfied about the teacher’s termination, adding that recently, two other families said that the same teacher made other deportation threats.

I hope this teacher puts in a resume at our local school.

Why the parent and student are both legal citizens of the United States. We don’t need teachers threatening to deport students who don’t comply with their commands. Zillions of ways to handle that with out bringing national politics in.

This teacher is a disgrace

I agree

Using the President as an empty threat against a student is a very liberal thing to do. He did this to shine the president in a bad light. That is how the left works

My guess is that the teacher’s motive was to poison the students’ minds against President Trump, and not to promote the concept of lex sanguinis (law of blood) versus lex solis (law of the soil) citizenship.

Other stories on the same topic indicate the school district fired the employee because of lack of inclusion rather than falsely claiming that a child of legal immigrants could be deported.

If they fear enough, maybe they will go home. Good riddance to them.

I support enforcing immigration laws but this is pure crap.

The teacher deserved to be fired.

children born to foreign citizens who have LEGALLY immigrated to the US fall under the 14th Amendment and are US citizens (along with the citizenship of the parent).

children born to foreign citizens in the country ILLEGALLY ... DO NOT ... qualify under the 14th Amendment. Their citizenship lies solely with the parents home country where they are LEGALLY domiciled.

Our founders were awesome but made some grave errors in the immigration areas of the constitution.

“mommy illegally entered the US and plopped out a kid and that’s the claim to citizenship, is this not correct?”

Correct, I think. I also believe this is the law/policy Trump is trying to rescind. It’ll be an interesting Constitutional-focused debate. I pray to God he wins it.

There was a female “teacher” who harassed a boy for saying “ma’am.”

I have to disagree. Even if it’s real, the “press” likes to pretend that blacks are never, ever racist towards Hispanics (even though I’ve personally seen that they can very much be). Openly discussing that might cause discord in the Democrat coalition. So no, I’m not surprised the “press” didn’t show a picture of this teacher at the The Barack and Michelle Obama 9th Grade Center or give his name like they did Chenique Lewis’s. We’ve all seen how the press works almost without fail…

Teacher should have just reported the family to ICE and brought popcorn to school as he smiled at the kid and spun the coin on his desk. The teacher should know better than to say anything out loud.
