Franco Columbu, a former Mr. Olympia and one of Arnold Schwarzenegger's closest friends, has died.
Franco died Friday, with reports out of Italy saying the legendary bodybuilder lost his life in an incident at sea in his native Sardinia.
Arnold said goodbye to Franco with a heartfelt message ... writing, "I love you Franco. I will always remember the joy you brought to my life, the advices you gave me, and the twinkle in your eye that never disappeared. You were my best friend."

I believe he was the Terminator infiltrator the dogs barked at. And then Sarah Conner’s picture, in the Jeep in Mexico, got burned.
One of the Italian websites says he had a heart attack while swimming.
Thank you. That could be related to PED use...or not.
“He must not have followed his own advice.”
Or he was just incorrect.
Up until the late 1980’s, steroids were just used to supplement good nutrition and training. Most of the guys from the 70’s and early 80’s will live to their genetic predetermined lifespan. It was only after about 1990 were steroids being substituted for good nutrition and hardwork. It is those that will be dying earlier deaths than normal.
However, what’s really proving to be deadly is insulin. They are using insulin to pump nutrition into cells to help them have the energy for training. Most of the early deaths in bodybuilding is happening because of the insulin.
He was the tattooed guy that stood on the rock before Thulsa Doom's troops attacked Conan's village in "Conan the Barbarian."
“Ill watch Pumping Iron tonight in his honor.”
It was on one of those obscure movie channels couple months back. First time I saw it. Very good.
Both roles being thanks to Arnold.
As well as the drug protocols for cutting.
Clen is a fan favorite...
He was in “The Running Man,” too.
So, he’s made a few million from simple movie appearances. Arnold was a good friend to him.
He was 78 years old, and it doesnt say how he died.
Aside from an accident at sea.
You got me there. Youre right, maybe it wasnt steroids. Next time Ill try to remember to put the sarcasm tag.
No, youre wrong. Everybody who takes steroids dies. Every one.
Everybody who drinks water dies, too.
Technically you’re correct, because everybody does die.
However, you’d be incorrect in that everybody dies an early death because of steroids. Steroids can be used moderately without an undue effect on one’s health. The fact that bodybuilders, who used them prior to the mid-eighties, testifies to that.
I was just kidding around about the steroids. I was in the bodybuilding world for about 20 years. I know a little about them.
That’s good. Some people do believe they, however.
Tone is difficult to “hear” in writing.
Yep... At 2-months short of 86, I can testify to that...
Everything gives you cancer. ;)
