Even when I located my own stolen stuff and told the police exactly where it was and who had it, they would not go get it.
Now if someone steals my stuff, and I’m not there, they won’t have to worry about dealing with me.
But if someone is trying to steal my stuff while I am there with my stuff, that’s robbery. That’s a violent crime and a felony.
I had the exact same thing happen to me a couple times. they washed their hands of it the instant the report was done. I found my stuff too, and they would not do a damned thing. I had to go “take care of it” myself to get the stuff back.
