I tend to suspect the plantation owners with thousands of acres of land and slaves in the millions, produced the majority of cotton produced in the South.I tend to suspect that the bulk of the land in the South which was not owned by large plantation owners but instead by lower through upper middle class farmers produced a hell of a lot of the cotton produced in the South.
