Last nights Miami-Florida game helped ring in what was the earliest start of the college football season ever.
Judging by the TV ratings, the early beginning might become tradition.
The contest, which kicked off at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN, drew a 4.1 overnight rating. Thats the best for a game on the Worldwide Leader in nearly three years.

The TV timeouts almost ruin the game. The first quarter took about 20 minutes to play. The other 3 quarters had to have been 40 minutes each. Players, coaches are just milling around ready to go, but the networks have to make money selling cars, insurance and injury attorney services.
Yep. Running game was dismal but it’s week “zero,” which it by definition it is not. Doubt I’ll ever be a big fan of Franks. He is late doing anything.
Miami has a decent defense, but they’ll probably be in the middle of the ACC this year.
Miami should be better than FSU, though.

I didn’t realize Florida had any college football teams.
About the only news we get out of that remote state are various “Florida Man” stories.
That’s good news because my second favorite team is whoever is playing the Noles!
