The pharmaceuticals are more interested in milking an endless cash cow than finding cures. They totally mismanage Acid Re-flux and GERD and want you to take medicine that reduces acid levels in the stomach when GERD's root cause is low acid levels in the stomach.
Their acid reducers provide temporary relief but the problem will always come back because the root problem is still there. Low acid in the stomach leads to bacteria overgrowth which lead to excess pressure on the lower esophageal sphincter (LES). The LES will then open which leads to heart burn as acid is pushed up the esophagus especially when sleeping.
They will never tell you that 2mg to 5mg of melatonin before bed can seal up the lower esophageal sphincter as tight as a drum preventing more damage and letting it heal.

FWIW, I and some others Ive known have cured acid related issues by following something similar to a diabetic diet. Without the sugars from a high carb diet bacteria dont flourish and a smaller amount of acid is all thats needed. Research suggests lower sugars also cuts down on infections elsewhere in the body also.
Maybe the other half then of the answer is to prestarve the colony’s potential by removing sweets and processed carbs.
