Why does the success of the Michaela School so infuriate the left?
Because though the headmistress Katharine Birbalsingh is black, she’s the wrong kind of black: a conservative who doesn’t believe in playing the race card or identity politics.
Because though the kids come from largely working-class, migration-background families, they are the wrong kind of working-class immigrants: ones who don’t know their role is to be victims and to blame their failures on racism and government inaction.
Because though the results are some of the best in the country, they were achieved using the wrong kind of methods: not the “child-centred”, supposedly creativity-nurturing, discipline-lite laissez-faire approach as recommended by the leftist educational establishment — aka the Blob — but with teaching methods so rigorous and demanding that classes are like a cross between a Trappist monastery and a Marine boot camp.

From the article, it seems that our laissez faire approach to the open classroom traveled back to the UK and we exported our chaos into their controlled open classrooms. So now some schools are independent enough to go back to what WE were BEFORE education went progressive. Wondering the control structure of that school, as the teachers' union here would certainly have had a tantrum at having to be THAT prepared.
Note the teachers wrote the texts as available texts weren't good enough.

Because this shows that Blacks don’t have to live their entire lives in subjugation on the democrat plantation. dems want Blacks to remain poor and hopeless, so that every year, the dems can tell them to vote dem because the dems will save them, and every year the dems fail the Blacks.
The dems want a lifetime permanent underclass that they can tap for votes and money. If all Blacks were to become successful, the dems would have to find a new group to destroy.
Not just poor kids. By turning middle class classrooms into propaganda centers instead of education centers, they lower the analytical ability of an entire generation, as well as their knowledge of real, rather than progressively imagined, history. Of course, that makes them easier to turn into dems as well.
First, the teachers’ union. Then educational standards.
What this Black Woman has accomplished, should be a model for all schools. But it won’t because the loony left defiles it. Anything in any school that proves that the teachers and students are better because they do things the right and moral way is verboten in their sick world. God bless this brave Woman and may others follow her example!!!!!
Phenomenal school.
When I was in 6th grade I spent part of the year in an overseas school run by a British schoolteacher with kids of many nationalities. It was the ONLY time I did not hate school with an utter passion. Reminds me of this school. If I had had years in such a school, I would have been much better off.

We are not Catholics and neither is an adult child and his wife.
They spent a lot of money, time and effort to pay for their 2 kids to attend great Catholic private high schools with excellent academic and sport results.
Their girl with one B and solid A’s in all of her school years was not accepted at any Cal university for a STEM program. Every out of state school accepted her. She got a $25 K/year scholarship at a major E. coast university. She is now in her 3rd year.
Their son, a new high school grad, this year, was accepted at 9 out of 9 engineering schools, that he applied to and 2 that he didn’t apply to. He decided to go to a Cal State school that his Dad did. The out of state schools even with some scholarships were much more expensive than the Cal State school without any economic aid. Also, there will be no expensive plane flights to and from college.
Their former public school classmates/friends were basically not accepted at any Cali university unless they were jocks.
Their former public schools were good from K-9. Then, they became typical Cali warehouses for delinquents.
My mother became a social worker in the last 20 years of her life. I remember her worry about a young black child who didn’t have a birth certificate and had some learning disabilities. So she scraped together the money to have a secret scholarship for him in a Catholic school, though he wasn’t Catholic, because THEY would be the place he’d get the help he needed. I hope some of that early-years-help DID help him.

Yes. I graduated in one of the last classes before the National Education Association took over the local school.
A huge difference in standards and outcome followed. Not for the better!

One of my girl friends taught in a special school in NYC. They did control admission, and they taught for aviation mechanics certification. But, as teachers must, every visit included watching her grade papers and the looseness that was required in the grading was absolutely demoralizing.
I’m sure they learned SOMETHING because she taught inner city kids to love Shakespeare and they adored her and protected her on her way to and from school. But there has to be more than caring and peripheral exposure to good literature. There has to be standards so that you don’t misspell headlines depressingly often in newspapers, etc.

Black Americans survived slavery and Jim Crow because their communities were held together by the strongest, most ethical, religious and decent people within their communities. If they hadn't had that type of leadership they wouldn't have survived slavery and Jim Crow with their families intact. (Black successful marriage rate was HIGHER for blacks than for whites in the 1940's)
In the 60’s white liberal ‘elites’ upended everything that made the black community strong and replaced it with grievance, pity parties, and poverty pimps.
I always hang my head because it was MY generation that did that.
....and a bunch of "tolerant and compassionate" liberal Democrats creating zillions of tax-funded programs to address their (cough) endless needs......
