David Koch — the billionaire co-owner of Koch Industries and powerful political donor — has died. He was 79 years old.

The death of the billionaire conservative icon, who stepped down from his role as executive vice president of the family’s company last year, was announced Friday morning by his older brother, Charles.

The Koch brothers are, or were, libertarians. They help bankroll Reason magazine, perhaps the most influential publication on the libertarian side. Their father was one of the founders of the John Birch Society but the sons moved in a libertarian direction.

I do not celebrate the death of someone (with, perhaps, the legal execution of an indisputable murderer as an exception), but I do celebrate the end of malignant influence by a deceased person.

I never regarded the Koch Brothers as conservatives. They are what the Enemedia wants to portray as conservative, so that they can ignore the real thing, and give it no voice.

I also do not regard them as libertarians. Open borders with a welfare state is not in any way a legitimate libertarian position.

I call them limousine libertines.
