I should point out that neither of those cars are electric. They are hybrids. Electric cars do have their place, but until battery life gets pushed out to say 500 miles of realistic driving, and nuclear power plants come on line to supply the electricity, widespread adoption will remain a generation away.

Bad wiring on the first year model gave the car the unfortunate nickname “Jolts Wagon”...

“Any part that you leave out can’t break.”

NICE QUOTE!

14,000!!!

Long ago I was a partner in a motorcycle shop and met a wrench that worked for the BMW dealer on the Northside of Chicago.
He had a bike he did not care for and we made a trade.
This was to be my retirement bike, I knew it would hold it’s value so it stayed on the side.
I even let a gearhead friend ride it for a couple of years to keep it in shape and fully maintained.

On the 6 June 2012 whilst riding the pedal bicycle an evil car ran me down, I slept for two weeks, 20 days hospital...
I didn’t drive a car for a year.
I take it out once in a while just local.

I used to put 5-6K bicycle miles on and a couple hundred on the BMW! Now ~3k on the bicycle.

Reliable like an ax!

Let’s make it a law ... and see who obeys it ...

Off-peak electricity rates have been around for a long time.

Why do otherwise?

Do you just pull in to the first gas station you see?
Money to burn must be nice!!!

To sell cars in states like CA you have to sell 20% electric into the state.

NOT EXACTLY.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plug-in_electric_vehicles_in_California

Also, note:
The Great California Mileage Con
Four car companies cut a sweetheart deal with Sacramento.

The deal increases the cap that auto makers can receive for “off-cycle” credits such as solar-reflective glass and high-efficiency lights by 50%, which is an admission that the mileage targets aren’t achievable any other way. California will give the companies double credit for electric cars and fuel-cell vehicles while eliminating the requirement that they account for “upstream” emissions from electric production.

I have owned a flock of them (Beetles and Thing), electric problems/ not so much.

Throttle cables?
Don’t leave home without a spare or two.

Gasbuddy shows a a $1.21 spread in my area on the price of regular in my area. From $3.08 at Costco to $4.29 at a Chevron station.

I paid $2.50 two days ago...

Since your home page is mute on where HERE is, I can only assume (from The Flag) that you are an American living abroad in a fascist country where the government sets the prices on everything.
