A lot of people are saying ‘Poor, poor Liam!’.
I don’t feel sorry for him at all. He knew good and well what he was getting into. There are reasons why he chose her to become linked to, for better or for worse. Liam may be one of those people who feels more comfortable in the role of the virtuous, abused martyr.
There are such people, both men and women. They act as parent figures and enablers to out of control adults.
It’s often a symbiotic relationship each side needing the other as polarity.
I suspect Liam’s family had to gang up on him to actually make a decision to divorce. Time will tell on if he decides to ‘give it another try’ anyway.
His brothers and parents are in long term marriages. This is the first divorce in the family. Even still, I’m sure they are glad.
Maybe he thought he could ‘fix’ all her problems if they just went ahead and got married. Many women do this, not as many men. But it is not unusual at all and this may be the case with him.
