A woman who put her recycling in the wrong coloured bags was arrested and locked in a cell by police.

Yes, BUT ‘everyone’ feels good for helping to save the world and they merrily go about their business.
I normally sit around in the evening with a light near the computer and rest of room dark with TV in background EXCEPT for the days when one is supposed to cut back on the lights.
That is the night(s) that the place looks like downtown Vegas. <: <: <:.
I understand we send our recycling to Asia, and THEY dump it in the ocean for us. How thoughtful of them.
“So the tissue paper gets put in with the grass clippings. But it needs to be layered. Some grass, then some tissues, then grass...”
I put our garbage in a bag and then into the bin. They've never gone through the bags which has the tissues and various other recyclables. After seeing the pollution from recycled electronics in China, mine get tossed into the garbage as well. Then sent to a triple-lined landfill a 30-mile truck ride away.
Where I live waste is seperated into five containers: garden waste, kitchen waste, plastic, glass, and metal. At first a fancy compartment ed truck came to collect it for recycling. Now a single hopper garbage truck comes andtakes it all to the landfill. Homeowners, however, are still required by law to separate East and use the provided containers. If containers are stolen (it happens) it take three months to get replacements.
The arrest was what I have learned to expect from the U.K. today - draconian.
On the other hand I think she will not fair well on the argument she had not shown up for court beceause she had not received the summons. I expect they have found the summonses in her trash bags.
Where I live, they passed out large rolling recycle bins. The last time I used it I filled it with leaves and branches.
I refuse to play their silly feel good games.
I remember the weight and fortune scales when I was a kid. You were supposed to put the penny in the slot for the month you were born. But if you looked closely you saw that whichever slot you used, the penny went down the same chute.
