Every time Australia comes up in this, I am reminded of the Netflix series “Pine Gap” — an NSA thriller where Australia signs a secret treaty with China.
Pretty good show, and very plausible in my opinion. One season only so far.
This one is also very good.

It premiered on Foxtel’s Showcase on June 5, 2016 and on Netflix internationally on June 26, 2018. The series is produced by Matchbox Pictures and Foxtel.[1][2]
A sequel to the series called Secret City: Under the Eagle was green-lit in February 2018. It aired on March 4, 2019, in Australia and launched worldwide on Netflix on March 6, 2019.[3] It is unknown if there will be a season 3.
