Repairs on all cars at dealers are obscene now. A $100 diagnostic fee that no longer counts toward the repair. My 2014 Expedition had a failed sunroof track $3,100! Then a few months ago, the rear CC lines corrodes away and leaked $1,300. Fortunately, I bought an extended warranty for $1,100 so I was only out $200 for deductibles.
It’s bad, but still not as bad as Mercedes. That’s the problem. Dealers are expensive. Mercedes dealers are obscenely expensive. (BMW too).
My buddy sold european cars in Seattle for about 40 years. Mostly Mercedes, BMW, and Audi. He told me that you NEVER want to find yourself in a position where you own any of those brands out of warranty. They are great cars, but owning one will cost you, both in purchase price as well as maintenance. Of course they treat you nice at the dealership, but so does Toyota and Honda.
