The Obamas’ First Big Anti-Trump Statement of 2020
Politico ^ | 8/20/2019 | Ted Johnson

In a final scene of the Netflix documentary “American Factory,” the chairman of a Chinese auto glass company walks through the sprawling floor of one of the company’s factories in Dayton, Ohio, as an aide points to different departments where employees will soon be replaced by robotic arms and other machines.

“We’re hoping to cancel four workers in July or August,” the aide tells him, almost proudly, before adding, “They are too slow.”

Scenes like this are typical in the film, which depicts the fallout after Shanghai-based Fuyao Glass revives a former GM plant and hires many of its former American workers. The employees are at first excited to find new jobs, but soon find themselves struggling to swallow a fraction of their former pay, difficult working conditions and the prospect that, no longer protected by a union, they could be fired at any moment.

The documentary, which debuts on Netflix on August 21, never mentions President Donald Trump by name—but its message is clear: Trump’s promise to reinvigorate the industrial heartland is going to take a lot more than a campaign slogan. There are no easy solutions. And if some manufacturing jobs do come back, they’re going to look nothing like they used to. Americans will have to accept a new reality to stay competitive in the global marketplace—one that they might not like, and one that Trump doesn’t acknowledge.

This message is also coming straight from Barack and Michelle Obama. “American Factory” is the first project to come from the Obamas’ production company, Higher Ground, as part of the deal they made with Netflix to produce a slate of series, movies and documentaries that reflect their values. Higher Ground acquired the movie after its debut at the Sundance Film Festival.

I came up with a prediction about a year ago that’s not hard to envision:

You know how homes used to have “wardrobes”, and then somebody invented the built in closet for bedrooms? Well how about this world:

Dependencies:
1. where you have a “built in refrigerator/freezer with outside access.
2. Self driving fully robotic vehicles without features required if driven by a human.
3. Foot containers with a built in chip that notifies “the internet of things” that they are running low.
4. A computer that constantly monitors how long it takes you to use food.
5. A food distribution plant that includes fully robotic pickers.

So, here is how it works:
1. You have an account at Kroger with automated food delivery.
2. The refrigerator (and pantry) monitors quantity of vegetables and meats, and containerized foods share remaining content information with the internet of things. It also monitors spoilage.
3. Every week a list of needed items is automatically sent to Kroger. you also can go online via your phone to “custom order” stuff for the next delivery (e.g. candy bars or other “single order” items)
4. The automated pickers at Kroger pull the necessary items and put them in “your” section of a self driving delivery vehicle. The vehicle lumps your section with sections for customers near you, on the same route.
5. The self driving vehicle makes its rounds. When it gets to your house, it opens the back of your refer and pantry (using a key code) and restocks everything.
6. You get a bill every month.

The result, you rarely ever set foot in any kind of food store. You simply always have the food you need at home when you need it. And here’s the kicker - it is the only world your kids will know.

This sort of thing can be applied to all sorts of aspects of human life. There is almost nothing we will have to do ourselves. The plumbing will even know when to call a plumber, thanks to moisture sensors. That kind of stuff.

Also, Netflix trying to keep its $131 billion market cap by hiring the Obamas? Very risky strategy.

Partner, it is the kiss of death by dealing with the America Hating Pieces of Work former POTUS Obama and former FLOTUS Moochelle.

The America Hating Piece of Work Obama left the White House in total disarray where most of his cabinet should be put in jail for a long time.

“This sort of thing can be applied to all sorts of aspects of human life. There is almost nothing we will have to do ourselves.”

Ray Kurzweil has distinguished himself as a particularly good technology forecaster. He led MIT’s AI Lab, and Google’s robotic efforts.

He estimates that general purpose household robots will become available in the mid to late 2020s. Those robots could monitor all life support and maintenance functions in the home, interface with the supply systems, and perform the end point services - like cooking up dinner, repairing the AC, or providing emergency medical treatment.

Technological advances will be exponential as will new economic opportunities. My concern is will the AI revolution create a new class of victims to be supported by the state.

Better to ask, how many businesses did Obama destroy.

That will take a long time to tally that up.

If I were Obama...I would stay both hidden and silent. When his Democrat Party, cronies in crime sing to heaven to save their own butts, from prison time...Obama will be the real culprit revealed!!! Love it!!!

Well, one night during Bible Study in the Fellowship hall, the Preacher made a statement concerning the intelligence, or lack thereof of the Office Holders. I piped up and said,”Remember Preacher, every one of them were elected by majority vote of the voters.” He did not say anything else on the subject. Draw your own conclusions.

The one and only time he worked for a company, he said it was “like being behind enemy lines.” What a worthless, totally useless schmuck. He isn’t qualified to shine Trump’s shoes.

I remember my Computer Science professor in college in the early 90’s telling everyone in his Computer Science class NOT to major in Computer Science. Why? His response.

“Whatever you learn today will be outdated 4 years from now.”

I guess that is why he was a professor, and not out in the real world.

Somebody has got to maintain the robots.

Also, didn’t Hussein himself say something about robots taking over being a fact of life? When he was in office?

There was some truth to what he was saying. A COBOL programmer in 1970 could still be a COBOL programmer in 2010, depending on where he lived. It is a bit more difficult with most stuff today, and there is so much. There are so many languages, from the various C languages to Pearl, SQL, Python, etc. Fortunately, they all seems surprisingly similar.

I’m still in IT as a Business Analyst and tell people that all languages are written by human beings, and since our brains work similarly, once you learn one language, you kinda know them all.

At least, I know a delimiter when I see one. :)
