Epstein killed Epstein. He didn’t want to die more horribly than he did, and I am convinced that is why he went out the way he did and when he did.
It is certainly plausible that someone killed him considering the numerous failures to protect him or ensure that he remained alive. Many powerful people wanted him dead.
